Add Photos from Your Phone

Lately I've noticed that Blogger gives the option to add a photo from your phone, so I thought I'd test it to see how it works.

Well, never mind.  It's part of the Google+ for Android app - which I would get, but my phone is stupid and doesn't have room for any more apps.  In fact, it tells me every day that I'm low on space, and the apps that I do have need updated - but there's not enough space to update them.  I am seriously going to need to get a new phone soon!  I don't even have very many apps.  The phone just barely has enough internal space for the apps that came on it - the ones I can't delete or move to the SD card.  It's frustrating.

If I could actually add the app, not only would it be handy to be able to use my phone pics for blogging, but all my pics would automatically be added to Google+ (in a private folder) - so I'd never lose any pictures - no matter what, which would be great.

A Network in Your Pocket

I've just recently started texting, because now we have a texting package on our cell phones.  So far I've sent a few texts to my kids, and I've updated my twitter and facebook from my phone.  And that's about it.

I may not have a use for this yet, but I can definitely see how GroupMe could come in handy.  It's a free service that lets you create multiple groups of contacts, such as family, soccer team, business associates, study group.  Then, each group gets assigned a special number.  Send a text to that number, and everyone in the group gets it, no scrolling through contacts and selecting multiple recipients.  Replies to the group number go to everyone in the group.  You can also call a group number for an instant conference call - for those times that texting just doesn't cut it.

I started a group of my own and got a number (262)528-3922 - because it was free and I could - and it was easy.  So far I'm the only person in it, so if you want to be part of my group, let me know! Or just check out GroupMe and start some groups of your own.

A New Wireless Relationship?

I just went to the US Cellular website to send Cory a text and noticed that they are changing a bunch of things. Here's one I'm excited about - no more contracts after the first one.




Of course, we've been with US Cellular for years, so contract of no contract shouldn't really matter.  It does, though.  It means they will work to keep customers by providing the best coverage and customer service and not because they're tied to a contract.


Another thing - I can save 5% on my bill every month just by signing up for automatic payments with my checking account and paperless billing.  I'm definitely signing up for that!

Free Ringtones

Since the kids got new phones, they've been busy learning all the neat things they can do with them. Now that they aren't limited to the ringtones that come with the phone, I know they'll be looking for some free ringtones to use, and I was reminded of this site I signed up for back when I first got my phone - phonezoo.

Phonezoo has free ringtones for your phone. You can register your phone and have them sent to your phone, or do like I do and download them to your computer and then put them on your phone. Now that I know how to transfer files between my phone and my computer that works really well! Also, with a phonezoo account, you can save ringtones you like to 'my zoo' and easily find them later - so you don't have to download them all at once.

Phonezoo also lets you create your own ringtones from sound files on your computer and share them with the rest of the phonezoo community. I haven't tried that yet, but it could be fun...
